2. Pack first aid kit. You can get specific first aid kit for backpackers nowadays. You want to make sure the kits contains bandages, pain relievers, anti septic spray and anti biotic ointments.

3. Pack a sleeping bag. Make sure you know the weather in the area you're going to to help determine the type of sleeping bag you will need.

4. Don't over pack. Only bring suitable clothing for how long you will be gone. The lighter you pack, the lighter load you will have to carry.
