If you are traveling on a budget, staying in a hostel can be an alternative. You see, hostel travel is no longer looked at as something that only college students do, as all sorts of people from different ages and backgrounds do it as an adventure that can enhance their travel experience. Plus, it's always nice to be able to save some money while you're on the road.

Understandably, hostel travel is not for everyone. If you're a family with lots of kids, then staying in a hostel isn't recommendable. Hostel would suit those who are traveling alone or with just a small group.

Most hostels are set up like dorm rooms. There will be several bunk beds arranged in the room — usually range from 4 to 10 beds. The more beds the room has, the cheaper the rate usually is.

In most places, the rooms will be divided according to gender. So if you are a female traveler, you can stay in female dorm rooms. However, it is not uncommon to have mixed gender dorm rooms.

One of the benefits on staying in a hostel is that you can get to know and meet more people — usually from different countries of the world. After all, that is the goal of your travel, to go and and see the world.
